The Morrison & Foerster Foundation 2020 Report

THE MORRISON & FOERSTER FOUNDATION EQUAL JUSTICE WORKS FELLOWSHIPS Since 2000, The Morrison & Foerster Foundation has contributed more than $5.1 million in support of the national nonprofit Equal Justice Works. As the largest facilitator of opportunities in public interest law in the United States, Equal Justice Works brings together an extensive network of law students, lawyers, legal services organizations, and supporters to promote a lifelong commitment to public service and equal justice in underserved communities across the country. Through Equal Justice Works, we have sponsored 53 promising new lawyers pursuing public interest legal careers at nonprofit organizations in U.S. regions where Morrison & Foerster has offices. Nearly all of our fellows have focused their two-year projects on improving the lives of disadvantaged youth, especially those experiencing discrimination and educational inequality. Our donation to Equal Justice Works is usually our largest single gift each year. In 2020, we contributed $274,000 to this organization, including $244,000 to its fellowship program and $30,000 to its general fund. A description of our recent fellows’ work follows. THROUGH EQUAL JUSTICE WORKS, WE HAVE SPONSORED 53 PROMISING NEW LAWYERS PURSUING PUBLIC INTEREST LEGAL CAREERS.
