5 | MoForever Winter 2021 Tell us a little about Zipline. The mission at Zipline is to provide every human with instant access to vital medical supplies. Zipline is the only drone delivery company operating at a national scale in multiple countries using the world’s largest autonomous logistics network. Drones release packages with small parachutes above predetermined points convenient to customers. Packages range from kits and blood products for health facilities to patient-specific prescriptions. Each Zipline Distribution Center can make hundreds of deliveries per day across an 80 square mile area to provide instant medical access to millions. What are your responsibilities? The Zipline legal team consists of the general counsel, Conor French, two Deputy General Counsels (Annies Hilby and me), and four aviation leads: Okeoma Moronu, Dan Czerwonka, Jeff Immel, and Melissa Rusanganwa. I handle much of the corporate governance and commercial work, which includes much of the same fun contract and IP work I learned and practiced at MoFo as well. We are a lean legal team at a company that is moving very quickly. How do you typically spend your day? Most of my days are spent brainstorming and untangling legal questions with my wonderful colleagues as well as collaborating with various business units and external stakeholders.
