The Morrison & Foerster Foundation 2020 Report
THE MORRISON & FOERSTER FOUNDATION OUR GIVING FOCUSES ON LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THAT SERVE DISADVANTAGED YOUTH, PROVIDE ACCESS TO EDUCATION AND HEALTH CARE, FIGHT DISCRIMINATION, AND PROVIDE FREE LEGAL SERVICES. With a longstanding commitment to justice in all of its forms, much of our giving focuses on local nonprofit organizations that serve disadvantaged youth, provide access to education and health care, fight discrimination, and provide free legal services to people in need. We support these initiatives primarily following recommendations by Morrison & Foerster lawyers and staff members who personally support the organizations through their own volunteer work or individual contributions. Many of these programs work in communities of color. In addition, we support fellowship and scholarship programs that benefit children and youth, help inspire others to engage in public service, and encourage diversity in higher education and the legal profession. Furthering the Foundation’s commitment to local communities, we also make a smaller number of contributions to charitable causes involving food and shelter, health, and the arts. Many of these contributions have a racial justice component as well. We offer annual matching gift programs to firm lawyers and staff. We also organize campaigns to raise and match funds in response to certain disasters and urgent needs.
